240V Screened ( Armoured ) Extension Leads
The first two layers of insulation are the same as a standard extension cord.
The third insulation layer is a braided copper screen. With the braided screen connected to the earth pin.
The fourth layer is a UV resistant PVC Sheath.
The braided screen offers additional mechanical protection, and another multi earth path in the case of the outer cable insulation damaged, and the active conductor hit, tripping the RCD.
There is also reduced electromagnetic interference helping protect sensitive electronic equipment.
