240V Screened ( Armoured ) Extension Leads
The first two layers of insulation are similar to those found in a standard extension cord. The third layer consists of a braided copper screen that is connected to the earth pin. The fourth layer is a UV-resistant PVC sheath.
The braided screen provides extra mechanical protection and creates an additional multi-earth path in case the outer insulation of the cable is damaged and the active conductor is exposed, which would trip the RCD (Residual Current Device). Additionally, this design reduces electromagnetic interference, helping to protect sensitive electronic equipment.
